S&P launches Element
S&P announced Element, their first step towards the long-awaited cloud replacement to Harmony (a popular RTA and DCA suite often called "Fekete"). Whitson+ has been eating into S&P's RTA market share pretty aggressively over the last couple of years, will this stop the bleeding?
Note that SLB is in the process of buying both Harmony and Element according to the press release from April.
Ikon rolls up Petrosys and Omnira
Constellation/Carina is rolling three of their portfolio companies into Ikon Science. We're guessing this is mostly a cost/efficiency move, but all three portfolio companies serve subsurface or subsurface-adjacent workflows, so this is a logical combination in our view with some pretty straightforward cross-selling opportunities. It will be interesting to see if it changes the development trajectory for tools like RokDoc (Ikon) and MOSAIC (Omnira) that are pretty widely used internationally.
Power BI August release
Another month, another batch. It's mostly quality-of-life, with a lot of features moving from Public Preview to General Availability. Some interesting things include improvements to the Donut Chart, speedup and tweaks to Azure Maps, and Direct Lake Calculated Columns (useful for Fabric customers).
